My customer has a question about Dout in below reference design.
I don't see other flyback reference design that need zener diode at output, why LM25180 need this? Is this for some special purpose?

Hi Jass,
LM25180-q1 has a minimum switching frequency of 12KHz. This means that the converter will always deliver a minimum power to the output. That is why a zener diode is needed at the output to clamp and regulate Vout when there is no load. See description from DS below. You can also use a dummy load at the output to regulate Vout instead of a zener diode. Design dummy load value depending on your standby losses requirements.
