UCC25800-Q1: External sync frequency range after handshake

Part Number: UCC25800-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC25800

Tool/software:

Hello,

I want to use the UCC25800 in a feedback-controlled LLC configuration. I have the following question:

On datasheet page 14, Chapter 8.83.3, External synchronization equation (2):

 2.3 * Fsw < Fsync < 2.6 * Fsync

Are these criteria for the initial synchronization between internal and external sync? Do I need to satisfy these criteria even if the synchronization handshake is already done and external sync has taken control? If not, what is the way to control Fsync in a wider range?

I control the UCC25800 via a microcontroller. I prefer to use the sync input since I can provide better stability. If there are no other options, I can control the voltage at the Rt pin with a DAC, but such a solution seems more like a hack than a good engineering approach.

P.S. I forgot to mention that feedback is realized via an isolated TTCAN bus.
