Hi,

I'm using regulator TPS54260MDGQTEP which is having a shutdown temperature of 182 Degree C.

1. Is it telling about the junction temperature or ambient?

2. Other query I have regarding the temperature range if the junction, operating storage is given as 150 Degree C, what will be the IC behavior between 150 - 182 Degree C.

I'm doing a worst-case thermal analysis where the IC case temperature is going to 183 Degree C (in software simulation). So, I need all the high temperature behavior of this IC to have more substantation in my report.

1. It is a junction temperature,

2. The device functionally works but the parameter variations can be excessive in the range. Also the lifetime is not guaranteed in the range.

3. The operation/behavior in the range over the maximum operating junction temperature is not guaranteed.

What about the 182 Deg C, the shutdown mechanism is guaranteed? because this temperature is also more than the Tj max

Thanks for the replies. But here I got question as how TI ICs are designed to manage the 182 deg thermal shutdown.

In other buck regulator questionaries of TI regarding for the similar query, I found these responses,

does it mean "the operation/behavior will be uncontrolled, but the IC gets triggered at 182 Deg C and forms a complete shutdown not to form fire or permanent damage to the IC?
