Hi Team,

If the overcurrent protection function is activated and the voltage drops,

causing the current to become smaller and fall below the overcurrent threshold,

will the overcurrent protection function be released?

Also, when the overcurrent protection function is released, will the OC pin go from H to L?

Masamitsu,

The switch will not release over current protection until the load falls below the over current threshold.

The method that this power switch uses to limit current is to increase the resistance of the power switch. This causes the voltage to drop and the temperature of the switch to increase. If the switch is operated in current limit long enough, then it will frequently reach it's over temperature threshold and turn off until it cools down. Once it cools to its turn on threshold, it will turn back on. This cycle will repeat over and over until the load is removed.

Is it correct to understand that once the overcurrent protection has been activated (OC pin: H), normal operation will resume (OC pin: L) once the current falls below the overcurrent protection threshold?

The /OC pin will report the fault as you explained with a deglitch time of 4-15ms.

After the overcurrent protection has been activated (OC pin: H), is it correct to understand that if the cause of the activation is removed and the current falls below the overcurrent protection threshold for longer than the deglitch time, normal operation will resume (OC pin: L)?
