Part Number: TPS7H4011-SP

Tool/software:

Hi team,

We are using TPS7H4011-SP synchronous step down converter in our design. Our goal is to generate 3.3V from 12V and required load current in 9A. Could you please suggest the Inductor specifications for this application(DC rating and Saturation current rating) to achieve 3.3V @ 9A.

  • Hi Keerthana,

The DC rating of your inductor should be at least your output current, looks like 9A in this case.

The saturation current rating should be at least your peak inductor current, which will change will your selected inductance.

TPS7H4011-CALC (TPS7H4011-SP component calculator) provides an easy tool to calculate required inductance values, peak and RMS inductor currents, and more.

Another option is to simply use the equations provided in section 9.2.2.2 of the device data sheet "Output Inductor Selection"

    Thanks,

    Andy
