UCC256404: Technical Support Regarding the Above Mentioned Part number

Part Number: UCC256404

Tool/software:

Wanted to know what is Latch and Restart mean wrt OVP protection scheme. Also, has my IC gone bad in case of me shorting the output terminals of my design which is why it is not able to perform its control operation.

  • Hi Shreyas,

Latch means that the controller will not restart until power is cycled. Restart means that it will retry to power the load.

It is not easy to comment on what happened when you shorted the output. Can you share more details?

  • I am using the UCC-256404 IC as part of a LLC Converter Design. I was testing to check the output short circuit protection test wherein i shorted my output terminals. I have done this before and it worked. However, in one particular case, after performing this test, the board stopped functioning i.e. the IC wasnt able to generate the RVCC voltage and no voltage was being seen at the output.

  • Hi Sheryas,

Have you confirmed the Over-current protection threshold has been set properly? Can you capture the voltage on the ISNS pin during the short?
