I found out that the error amplifier of this device is saturated when the IC is powered. I would like to shunt the EAO output to ground (temporarily). Does this damage the device if I do so ?

The UCC29002 is designed to start-up driving the EAO high. All of the "N" controllers start this way to get the output currents rising quickly, then the loop comes around to settle the EAO to the appropriate steady-state level.
Since EAO is a transconductance amplifier with ~1mA maximum output, you may short the EAO output to GND, and release it as necessary for your requirements.
I suggest that you also consider using the UCC29002-1 device, which is the same as the UCC29002 except it does not drive EAO high at start-up. Instead, it starts at 0V and allows natural loop dynamics to raise the EAO to steady-state.
Other than the influence of the LS bus, each module operates independently in both cases.
