BQ79631-Q1: Inquiry Regarding BQ79631 Support for Single Fault to Ground Detection.

Part Number: BQ79631-Q1

Tool/software:

Dear TI Team,

I am currently evaluating the BQ79631 for use in a high-voltage battery management system, and I would like to know if it can support the detection of a single fault to ground. Specifically, we need to detect any ground faults in the system and would like to confirm whether the BQ79631 has built-in capabilities for monitoring or detecting such faults.

Our application involves a high-voltage DC power system, and we are looking for a solution that can help monitor and respond to single fault to ground events effectively.

If BQ79631 is not suitable for this purpose, could you please recommend alternative solutions from TI that can detect single faults to ground? We are looking for a solution that could potentially support high-voltage applications and handle ground fault detection efficiently.

Your guidance and any related documentation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

  • Hi Tom,

The BQ79631 has a built in self-test that monitors its power supplies for any failure and will report the faults in the Fault_PWR register. In addition, our user's guide has provided recommendations for design to mitigate damage from when there are possible ESD or high voltage transients.

    Best Regards,

    John
