BQ25792: Is BQ25792 suitable for removable series 18650 batteries

Hello,

We are planning to design a bms for 2 series 18650 batteries which are removable from the system separately. Because of that each cell can be accidentally inserted in reverse polarity. After each cell we will add reverse polarity circuit but I am not sure if the IC is suitable for this? And also we are planing to use BQ25792RQMR with BQ29209DRBT. Do you have general advice for the situation where two batteries have to be removable?

Hi Ihsan,

I recommend p2p BQ25798 instead of BQ25792 for applications with removable batteries. I do not expect the reverse polarity circuit or BQ29209 cell balance circuit to cause issues but I have not tested either with the BQ25798.

Hi Ihsan,

I am not aware of any reference designs that include any BQ charger with BQ29209 or a reverse polarity protection circuit.
