Hi all,

I am looking for USB 4 NIMH rechargeable battery charger IC from TI but unfortunately I was only able to found for USB lithium-ion battery charger IC only. Can you advice any suitable IC for my application. My design spec are:

a. 4 AA NIMH in series

b.mini USB port

You will first need to boost your USB 5V to a higher voltage to properly charge 4 series cells. After boosting it to around 7V, the bq2002 can be used to control a current source to charge your cells.

Thanks for the reply. Can I use bq2002 to charging 4 AA NIMH placed in series? Because my application is to build an internal rechargeable circuit with 4 AA NIMH batteries placed in series to have total 4.8V for my application.

As I said, you will need to have a voltage greater than 4.8V to properly charge these cells. 7V is likely sufficient but it depends on your implementation of the current source and other voltage drops in the system. See the EVM for the bq2002 for an example circuit.
