TPS745-Q1: Questions about VOUT(NOM)

Part Number: TPS745-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Expert,

Have a nice day.

Could you help to explain what the VOUT(NOM)?

What is the relationship between “VOUT = 0.95 × VOUT(NOM)” and “x1 V ≤ VOUT ≤ x2 V” (such as: “3.3 V ≤ VOUT ≤ 5.5 V” ) ?

Thanks!

Best Wishes,

Leo Ma

  • Hey,

VOUT(NOM) is the nominal output of the LDO. For example a fixed 3.3V LDO will have a VOUT(NOM) of 3.3V. The test conditions in the table are specifying that VOUT during the test was 95% of VOUT(NOM). x1 V ≤ VOUT ≤ x2 V are different parameters of the test for the given dropout values

    Hope his helps,

  • Hi Vahnroy,

    Thanks for reply.

    1. Does “x1 V ≤ VOUT ≤ x2 V” means this:

(Figure 2 is from the AN of TPS76733)

    2. I am still confused about the “VOUT = 0.95 × VOUT(NOM)”. If I set the Vout =3.3V(Both by adjustable version of fixed version), how could I let the Vout=0.95×3=2.85V? Does it means it work in dropout region?

    Best Regards,

    Leo

  • Hey Leo,

    1. No, That's not what means.

    2. These are the test conditions during validation where the dropout value was obtained. If you set Vout as 3.3 it will regulate accordingly
