TLC69660: Request for TI Backlight Power IC Recommendation

Part Number: TLC69660
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP8869-Q1

Tool/software:

We have previously used TI Power ICs in our project. However, our current product requires a higher output current (above 160mA) and lower power consumption. Below are our specific requirements—could you help recommend a more suitable TI backlight power IC? Please let us know if you need further specifications for clarification.

Key Issue:

The main challenge is the high voltage and large power demand:

Arrow right 24V × 160mA = 3.84W, which exceeds the P(max) limit of 3.6W.

Requirements:

  • Input voltage: 5V
  • Output: At least 24V, 160mA, 3.84W
  • Low thermal resistance: Preferably similar to RT8543 (Rja = 28°C/W, Rjc = 7°C/W)

Looking forward to your recommendations. Thanks in advance for your support!

  • Hi Chili,

You should be looking for a boost LED driver, instead of a local dimming linear LED driver. Do you need current sink? COuld you pls look at LP8869-Q1 first to see if 3channels connect together could meet your requirement?

    BR, Gracie
