BQ3050: Is it possible for the chip's EEP information to be erased during power-on?

Part Number: BQ3050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ8050, BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Dear Ti engineer

When the 8050 IC is powered off, the PCBA is activated by adding voltage to the Pack ,and does the chip's EEP information be erased ?

Looking forward to your reply!

  • Hello Zehu,

Could you elaborate what "EEP" information" means to you? When the pack is powered off the ram information erased seen on the "register" tab and updated dependent on the power mode it is on but the flash memory from the "Data memory" tab does not change.

    Thank you,
    Alan

  • Hi Frias

Let me explain the process in detail.

The BQ8050 chip is used on a 4-string battery,When the voltage of a single cell is 1V and the total voltage is about 4V, the BMS is activated by applying a voltage of 5.5~7V at the Pack end, and occasionally the saved eeprom data may be deleted

    Looking forward to your reply!

  • Hi Frias

Could you please help to answer it when it is convenient for you? Thank you!

    Best Regards,

  • Hello Zehu,

For TI battery gauges there is two set of data used, ram data also referred to as registers located in the registers tab in BQStudio and flash data also referred as parameters located in the Data memory tab in BQStudio. Whenever your system is put in shutdown mode or loses power than your data ram( registers) memory would be lost these are values such as temperature, OCV and etc another thing to note is that these are the read only data. On the other hand your data flash (parameters) will stay stored regardless of the power state of the battery gauge and you can locate these values in the technical reference manual under section "C.13 Data Flash Values".
