BQ77915: CTRD Fault Recovery Issue

Hi,

We are facing an issue with CTRD fault recovery in the BQ7791501.

We are controlling CTRD externally using a switch (user-operated). The recovery works fine when no load is connected, but when we connect the controller, the issue arises. Even though the controller is in an idle state (almost no load), the fault does not recover.

It seems that the IC is detecting a load before turning the discharge MOSFET ON, which is not mentioned in the datasheet as a requirement for CTRD fault recovery.

Our Questions:

  1. Does CTRD fault recovery require load removal?
  2. Why is it not recovering even when the controller is in an idle state (almost no load)?
  3. Is there a way to disable load removal for CTRD fault recovery? If not, can we reduce its sensitivity so that it can recover when the controller is idle?
