TPS65218EVM-100: Facing Current Limit Issue on DCDC4.

Part Number: TPS65218EVM-100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IPG-UI, TPS65218

Tool/software:

Hello TI,

I  am using the TPS65218EVM-100 board, the voltages are set Correctly as per our requirement on an output rails of an IC but unable to get the expected current value.

Voltages and Current value required are mentioned below:

1> DCDC1=1V@0.9A

2> DCDC2=1.2V@1.4A

3> DCDC3=1.8V@0.62A

4> DCDC4=3.3V@1.326A

All the output current requirements are under the maximum current limit of each output rail(referred Datasheet).

On DCDC4 we experienced that the output when connected to the load makes the TPS65218 IC to reboot. why it is hitting the current limit ?, and didn't saw any option in IPG-UI to set the ILIMIT for DCDC4.

Thanks and regards,

Hatim

  • Hi Hatim,

Thank you for reaching out on E2E.

The current limit for DCDC4 is not configurable, and does not have a setting in IPG-UI.
As you mentioned, this 1.326 A is below the maximum 1.6 A.

Are you able to share a register dump from the device after the reboot occurs?

    Best Regards,
    Sarah
