TPS54525: UL for TPS54525PWP and TPS62130RGTT

Part Number: TPS54525

Tool/software:

Hello

I am currently evaluating the TPS54525PWP and TPS62130RGTT DC-DC regulators for use in a UL-compliant design. Could you please provide information regarding their UL certification status? Specifically, I am looking for:

  1. UL file numbers (if applicable).
  2. Confirmation if these parts are UL Recognized Components.
  3. Any safety compliance documentation or UL test reports available for these devices.

If these parts do not have standalone UL certifications, do you have recommendations on how to incorporate them into a UL-certified system while ensuring compliance?

Thanks in advance for your support!

  • Hi,

This converter is not UL recognized component without any UL file #.

If TPS54525 is used as first stage conversion with input connected to input socket or terminal, then you need to add fuse or TVS to protect over current or voltage condition to comply UL requirement.  no such requirement if TPS54525 used as 2nd stage converter.

  • Thank you, Andy, for your response regarding the TPS54525PWP. I have a few follow-up questions:

    1. Does the same UL compliance guidance (requiring a fuse or TVS diode for first-stage use) also apply to the TPS62130RGTT? The response only mentioned the TPS54525PWP, so I’d like to confirm.

    2. In our design, both TPS54525PWP and TPS62130RGTT are used as first-stage converters, with only a BNX025H01L EMI filter connected between the direct power source and the DC-DC converters. Given this setup, do you have any additional recommendations to ensure UL compliance?

    3. Are there any alternative DC-DC regulators that already have UL recognition, preferably with a similar footprint to the TPS54525PWP and TPS62130RGTT?** This would help minimize redesign efforts.

    I appreciate your support!

  • Hi Alex,

    It's same situation for TPS62130RGTT and TPS54525PWP.

these converters are for voltage step down conversion, not intend for input power supply Over voltage and over current protection, so there should be no strict safety requirement on these converters, but UL do have more requirement on the USB switch product if it's on input front-end.

You may need to add fuse or resistor to prevent fire in case the input is over voltage or load is shorted, pls check it with professional UL consultant.
