BQ25756: EN_IBAT_LOAD function

Part Number: BQ25756

Tool/software:

Hi Ti Experts,

we are using the bq25756 Buck Bosst Charge Controler in a USB-C application.

We charge a 13S battery.

We want to use the the EN_IBAT_LOAD function to discharge the capacitors.

I think that is working so far.

During the tests I connected the battery to the charger. EN_CHG was not activated.

EN_IBAT_LOAD was activated. I could see a current of about 30mA flowing out of the battrey into the
charger PCB.

In the datasheet is written that the bq25756 sinks the current from SRN to GND.

I measured the voltage drop over the R65 which is connected to SRN. Here I could measure almost nothing:

Because I know the current is flowing, I measured the voltage drop over the R64. This resistor is connected to SRP.

Here I can see a voltage drop of about 180mV. This means a current of about 18mA (180mV / 10 Ohm = 18mA) is flowing into SRP.

Is this behavior correct? Why does the current flows into SRP and not into SRN?

Thanks a lot.

Regards, Klaus
