Hi Shoo,
Typically, it is recommended for thermal relief. This helps the device's thermals.
If this part is not soldered, you would just have worse thermals, but the device will be fine if it is not soldered.

How does worse the thermal performance get? The pins in red circules connect to the die pad through bonding wire?
