BQ25895: Unable to source 60uF SMT capacitor at reasonable cost, ok to use 3x 22uF?

Hi,

I am gathering parts for a BQ25895 based design and plan to use the full 5V at 3.1A which the PMID provides however the datasheet specifies a 60uF capacitor which I haven’t been able to source at a reasonable cost. Is it ok to substitute it with 3x 22uF 0805 capacitors or would that result in any questionable behaviour?

Hello Muhammad,

Thanks for reaching out. Yes, you can use 3x 22uF capacitors on PMID. Alternatively, you can use a 22uF and 4x 10uF. The marginally extra capacitance shouldn't be a problem from a stability standpoint. And of course, ceramic capacitors typically experience some capacitance derating with temperature and voltage.
