BQ77915: Issue in turning ON and OFF of the MOSFET

Part Number: BQ77915

Tool/software:

Hello TI,

We designed a 5S 100A BMS based on customer requirements and selected the BQ7791514 IC. However, after assembling the board, we encountered several issues and need your support.

  1. The board is configured for a 5S setup (18.25V), but we are facing problems with MOSFET switching. The charging MOSFET toggles ON and OFF every 2 seconds (with the CHG driver pin outputting 5V), while the discharging MOSFET remains OFF (DCHG driver pin voltage is 0V).
  2. Using the simulator tool, we configured it for a 5S setup and increased each cell voltage to 3.65V. However, the charging MOSFET still did not turn OFF but kept toggling ON and OFF.

We suspect a fault is being triggered and need guidance on how to diagnose and resolve the issue.BMU.pdf

  • Hello Nishith,

Have you checked for all fault conditions as stated in the datasheet? I would recommend to look at all the faults and diagnose each one to narrow down which one could be triggering.

What are the delays of the toggle?

    Best Regards,

    Luis Hernandez Salomon
