Hello team. I have such a task, to build a laser driver that is modulated by a 40 KHz sinusoidal signal. Output power is at least 300 mA. A separate generator has already been assembled. I initially wanted to build a driver on LMG1020, but I'm not sure if it supports analog modulation or not. Please advise me one of your drivers and a connection diagram.

Hello,

LMG1020 is suitable for a GaNFET controlled laser driver. The input supports a PWM signal that can be frequency modulated. Can you explain the desired input and output signals?

Walter thanks for the quick reply. Input signal is 1.5v sine wave, 40khz. Output signal is 40khz sine wave should modulate Red laser diode 638nm 180mW. Thanks for the link, I will definitely study this document.

Hello Emil,

LMG1020 has 3.3V logic inputs so a 1.5V sine wave is not compatible. A level shifter or different input controller will be necessary.

I will assemble the level shifter on opa357, this is not a problem, but after that I will get a sine wave at the output? or please suggest any chip from your products that meets my above mentioned needs.Thanks for the answer.

Hello,

The LMG1020 has logic inputs and outputs, not analog inputs so you will not get a sine wave output.

A specialized laser driver device might work better for your application. Link here www.ti.com/.../overview.html
