I am trying to getting started with the BQ79600-Q1 and BQ79616. My idea is to first start and test the communication between the MCU and the IC. For that, I send a Wakeup Ping followed by a WriteFrame to wake up the stack. I actually have not connected the stack up until now but this shouldn‘t be a problem. After waiting for 24ms, I send a read command frame to read the control register1. During the whole process the nFault gets pulled to low and the Response of the IC is just 0x00. Am I approaching this the wrong way?

Lino,

Have you issued an auto address? You cannot communicate until you do this.

Thanks for giving me the information about the Auto Address. I added the Auto Adressing according to the datasheet but I still have Problems getting an answer from the IC. What seems strange to me, is that shortly after the Wake Up ping the nFault pin transitions to low as you can see in the following image: Is this normal?

Lino,

NFAULT is most likely falling because of the 'DRST' which is the digital reset bit. It is set when the device transitions states and the digital block is reset. We will not know for sure until you can communicate and read the fault registers.

Developing script like this is easy to run into issue with the procedure.

Hey Quentin,

thanks for the reply. I was finally able to implement the functions according to the data sheet. The problem I have is now in the Auto-Adressing sequence. As soon as I write my first StackRead frame SPY_RDY is getting pulled down and does not get released until I send a comm clear. But after resending the Stack read command it gets pulled down again and the whole cycle repeats.
Is there a known issue? I can also provide detailed logic analysis if needed.

Were you able to get access to that page and look at the sample code?
I would like you to compare your script with theirs to make sure it is being implemented as expected.
