TPS628513: AC phase margin simulation

Part Number: TPS628513

Tool/software:

To whom it may concern

I would like to know if there are any other types of analyses that may be done using PSPICE for TI apart from the transient anlyses, for which the circuits

are normally set up.

Otherwise, how do i find the phase margin for a switching regulator (in my case the TPS628513DRLR) using components somewhat different from
the exact recommended components?

Than you very much

  • Hello Mynard,

thanks for reaching out in E2E.

Unfortunately we don't have a suitable simulation model for AC simulations of the TPS628513 device.

You could do a rough stability check with the help of analyzing a load transient response simulation waveform. If there is no oscillation in the output voltage after the load step then this would be an indication of good stability. If there are oscillations, then the phase margin could be estimated from the damping of the oscillation by comparing to figure 8 at the end of section 2.2 in this application note: "Optimizing Transient Response of Internally Compensated dc-dc Converters With Feedforward Capacitor".

Alternatively you could measure the phase margin with a Bode plot at the real IC (using an EVM or our prototype PCB).

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Best regards,

    Andreas.
