BQ40Z50-R1: BQ40Z50 led issue

Tool/software:

We are using BQ40Z50 to replace BQ20Z9R5.

but we find a issue of the led behavior.

first of all, We are consistent in the settings of the parameters, especially “led hold time”,

secondly, the schematic and PCB layout is also cleared of suspicion.

But if we stop charging, the 40Z50 led will light on about 60s while the 20Z95 will light on 5s and then goes off.

I attach ggfile.

that is a improtant issue and will cause our product unable to iterate.

Hello BQ40Z50-R1,

Could you send the schematics within the trend or send a friend request to privately view the two schematics. The only configuration you can do within the battery gauge is founded within the subclass "LED Support" on section 13.7 within the technical reference manual. I'll follow up with another trend this week after conducting a test to see if you can update the results. But can you clarified what pattern you wanted to happen.

yeah, for the LED Support we have set the same, you can review the two ggfile and figure out if there is any problem about the LED register setting.

I send the schematic as picture.

we want the 40Z50 to goes off after charging like 20Z95

Hi Kevin,

I believe this is being caused by your CHG Relax Time being 60s. The CHG Relax Time dictates how long the current must be below the quit current to exit charge mode and enter relax. You also have LEDCHG enabled in the LED Configuration register, which enables the gauge to turn on the LEDs while in charge mode.

With both of these points together, the LED is on for 60 seconds because the gauge is still in charge mode. If you reduce the CHG Relax Time, you should see this LED on time reduce.
