BQ25756EVM: Charging current

Part Number: BQ25756EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25756,

Tool/software:

Hello TI team

When I tried to charge the BQ25756 EVM using a battery simulator, I measured fluctuations in charging current.

Does it okay for that?

  • Battery simulator
    • Vmax : 29V
    • Vmin : 20V
    • SoC : 50%, Capa : 9Ah
  • Input supply : 23V
  • DUT : BQ25756EVM

- no load condition charging

- 1A load condition charging

Thank you.

  • Hello Ben,

Thanks for working on this. The no load charging waveform looks pretty strange. It looks like a switched load is being applied.

What model of battery simulator are you using? I think the current ripple might be coming from the battery simulator itself.

Do you see an improvement in the charging current's behavior if you attach a 2000µF or greater capacitor onto the battery simulator's terminals?

    Best Regards,
    Ethan Galloway

  • Hello Ethan

I used simulator 62060D-10 from CHROMA.

Anyway, It works well after changed a real battery.

    1.5A load condition

    no load condition

    Thank you
