TPS7A02: Using TPS7A02 for Super Capacitor Load

Part Number: TPS7A02

Tool/software:

Hello;

        I want to use TPS7A0233 for super capacitor Load. I will use a diode at Output to stop current flowing from output to input of LDO. However datasheet mentions that Maximum Load capacitance for this I.C. is 22uF. My Super capacitor is 10F. I am thinking using 1R as series resistor between Super cap and Output of LDO. I think this I.C. is good choice due to fold back current which will limit over heating of LDO during initial charging of LDO. Please let me know if 1R resistor will be good enough for the stability of LD0. if not then suggest the resistor value.

  • Hi Amey,

    I'll look into whether 1Ω of series resistance provides enough isolation to ensure stability, or if a larger resistance would be required. In either case, I'd recommend adding a 1µF capacitor at the LDO output, before the diode or series resistor to ensure adequate low-ESR output capacitance for the LDO.

    Best Regards,
