BQ34110EVM-796: Basic Configuration Guidance for BQ34110EVM-796 with 4S2P 14.4V 5.7Ah Battery.

Hello,

I am working with the BQ34110EVM-796 evaluation module and referring to the user guide to configure the IC for a multi-cell (4S2P, 14.4V, 5.7Ah) battery pack.

However, I encountered an issue where BQStudio detects the device only when configured for a single-cell setup (4.5V) but fails to detect it when I attempt to configure it for multiple cells.

I have carefully followed the steps mentioned in the user guide for configuring the multi-cell setup, but the issue persists.

Could you please advise on:

• Possible reasons for this issue.
• Steps to correctly configure the IC for a multi-cell setup.
• Any additional documents, apart from the EVM user guide, that could assist in resolving this issue.

Any guidance or relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated.

The battery gauge BQ34110 is a multi-cell battery gauge that needs multiple cells to operate. I would first confirm that you are using the BQ34110 battery gauge and second I would make sure that you have the battery pack connected correctly. In terms of a set up I would began by running a calibration of the different units in the calibration tab. Afterwards I would update the critical parameters within the data memory table. I would then run the Gauging Parameter calculator and get a chemID that has a difference error of 3%. With the BQStudio I would rerun the learning cycle and you shouldn't see any issues on your end.
