BQ24070: BQ24070 Slow charge issue

Part Number: BQ24070

Tool/software:

Hi,

We are currently implementing a BQ24070 Linear Charger in an IoT based application. we have tested both 1.5K , 1k and 750 Ohms for the ISET1 value. According to the calculations , charge current should've been 708mA,1062mA and 1416 mA respectively. But we are only averaging about 350 mA in all cases. We have tested with both Li-po and Li-ion chemistries. Any help would be appreciated. Rest of the configuration values are default as per reference values given in detailed design procedure (9.2.2) in the datasheet.

Thanks

  • Hi Soham,

Thanks for reaching out. Charge current can be reduced by the DPPM (Dynamic Power Path Management) or thermal regulation feedback loops. To better understand why your charge current is lower than expected, I'd like to confirm the following:

    1. Could you confirm the logic levels of MODE, ISET2, STAT1, and STAT2 in your design?

    2. Could you provide measurements of VIN, VOUT, and VBAT while the device is outputting 350mA?

    3. How much current is your system load drawing while charging?

    4. Is the 350mA the charge current only, or does it include both charge and system current?

    Best regards,

    Alec
