BQ25720: Current sense resistor

Part Number: BQ25720

Tool/software:

Dear TI Engineer,

We have some questions about the relationship between the current limiting of BQ25720 and the current sense resistor. If we choose 5mΩ for the input current sense resistor(RAC) and charge current sense resistor(RSR), does it means the registers(0x3F, 0x14) related to current setting is calculated based on doubling?

By the way, if we want to set the input current to 7A, and the two current sense resistor are all 5mΩ, the register setting is as below:

BQ25720_charger setting_20250312.xlsx

Can you help check is there any quesiton about the register setting?

Thanks,

Kind Regards

Yes, The charge current and input current limit values in the datasheet are based on a 10mohm sense resistor. If you use a 5mohm sense resistor, you will need to double the value. For example if you set the charge current register equal to 0x0400, it would equal 1024mA with a 10mA sense resitor, and 2048mA with a 5mohm sense resistor.

    Best Regards,

    Christian.
