1. The Chemical Data submitted on March 20th was to use a similar Battery Cell
     
2. ChemUpdate1143.zip included in this email contains INR21700-40P, but does not contain the ID of INR21700-40PL(Tapless) Battery Cell
3. Differences between Battery Cells
    1) INR21700-40P --> Conventional Cell
    2) INR21700-40PL --> Tapless Cell
        Refer to the attached file: INR21700-40P and INR21700-40PL datasheet

Hello Kim, 

The email that you received was due to using the GPCCHEM calculator tool. I would stick with the ChemID that has the lowest error difference but our team at TI doesn't work with cell manufactures meaning that you would have to reach out to cell company for the difference between there products In terms of using the BQStudio software I would began by running a calibration of the different units in the calibration tab. Afterwards I would update the critical parameters within the data memory table. I would then run the GPCCHEM calculator and get a chemID that has a difference error of 3%. For the BQ40Z80 battery gauge I would follow the EVM documentation.

Design Capacity, Design Voltage, Charge Term Taper Current, Discharge (Dsg) Current Threshold, Charge (Chg) Current Threshold, Quit Current and Term Voltage

But this issue is still not resolved
INR 21700-40PL is not in "ChemUpdate1146.zip"
INR 21700-40P exists but it is a different Cell Chemical

So what should I do to register it officially?

I will read the GPCCHEM and Learning Cycle Document you sent me carefully and proceed again.

As mention before the only way that you can tell if you need a custom ChemID is through completing a GPCCHEM Calculator report and reviewing the best matched ChemID and verifying that it is less than a 3% difference. I've seen that you sent a GPCCHEM report previously however I can't view the picture so I can't verified if you this is the case or not. Regardless if you do decide to go with the best matched ChemID you can still go with the option of making a custom ChemID for your cell. For this scenario you would need to reach out to your local Texas instruments FAE to get the steps of how to ship out your cells for this process.
