LP5024: Is RGB order mandatory?

Part Number: LP5024

Tool/software:

Dear TI Support Team.

I’m planning to use the LP5024 in my design, but I would like to clarify:
Is it mandatory to connect the RGB LEDs in the specific R/G/B order described in the datasheet?
Or can I treat the LP5024 as a general-purpose 24-channel constant-current LED driver and connect any color LED to any output channel, controlling each channel individually via I2C?

Thank you!

  • Hi Tom,

Yes, you can connect any color LED to any output channel, controlling each channel individually via I2C.

As why datasheet shows the R/G/B in sequence, because there are additional group registers that can be used to control group channels with the mapping relationship below.

But for your application, you just need to use the OUTx_Color registers to control each channel individually.

    Best regards,

    Felix
