TPS7A85A: Are the TPS7A84A and TPS7A85A package compatible? Are there any other differences in parameters?

Part Number: TPS7A85A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A84A,

Tool/software:

Hi,

The actual circuit current has increased to about 3.2A. The original TPS7A84A was used.

After initial comparison, I feel that the TPS7A85A perfectly meets the requirements.

The package and pin definition are exactly the same, and other parameters are similar.

It should be OK to just replace the chip.

I don't know if my understanding is correct. Please help confirm it.

Thank you

  • Hello,

Correct, TPS7A84A and TPS7A85A have the same package and pin layout. The only potential difference is TPS7A84A can have either a 0.5V reference (TPS7A8401ARGRR) or a 0.8V reference (TPS7A8400ARGRR). Meanwhile, TPS7A85A only has the 0.8V reference option (TPS7A8500ARGRR) available.

So, as long as the current chip is TPS7A8400ARGRR then you can replace with TPS7A8500ARGRR without layout changes.

    Regards,

    Andres
