TPS650362-Q1: Partial off for MCU and Ether PHY

Part Number: TPS650362-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

We would like to supply power not only to the MCU but also to the Ether PHY with this PMIC. Can only power be supplied to the Ether PHY with the MCU off?

BR,

Taku

  • Hello Taku,

Depending on the power rails of both devices, this should be possible. Do you have any further information about the power rails required for the MCU and the Ether PHY? A preliminary block diagram would also be helpful to visualize the system required.

    Best regards,
    Jude Stehling

  • Hello, Jude,

We do not have a clear understanding of which MCU they are using. The power rail required for this PMIC is 3.3V, 0.9V, and maybe 5V all from 12V rail. The request is to keep the 3.3V rail ready for ETHER-PHY during the sleep mode to detect any incoming wakeup signal which would be transmitted via Ethernet (e.g. 10BASE-T1S).

    Best,
    Masaru

  • Hello Masaru,

During sleep mode, or low-power mode, for the TPS65036x-Q1 all of the rails are still powered, but some of the peripherals are disabled to reduce power consumption. The rails that are low-load will use PFM instead of PWM which uses much less power.

I think that this might be difficult to control with the PMIC. Is there a way that the PMIC low-power mode could be controlled (to enter/exit) by the MCU and ETHER-PHY? The PMIC can supply the necessary voltage even in low-power mode.

    Best regards,
    Jude Stehling
