Polarity inversion protection

Hi Clement,

TPS1685 is single FET device so reverse polarity would be a challenge using TPS1685.

Would it be possible to share more details on application and requirements. It will help us to plan future devices.

The use case is to be able to sustain polarity inversion on the 28V inputs coming from the aircraft.

Yes that is possible.

Other option is use ORING controller like LM5050, LM74910 and then followed by TPS1685.

Also how much is max load curent?

Hi,

Our load current is around 8-9A continuous / 16A peak (we are driving a 3-phasis electrical motor through an inveter bridge) and the voltage can go from 0V to 60V (thus -60V protection required).

So you would suggest to do a oring with the LM5050 and then a single TPS1685 ?

I checked the LM74910, it's pretty evolved, I believe we could just use that component without the TPS1685. We don't need the hot swapping capability in fact, just the inrush limiting, breaking capability and oring.
