TPS65987DDK: Confirm the No USB Supsen behavior.

Part Number: TPS65987DDK

Tool/software:

Hi AE,

The Source uses this flag to evaluate whether it should reissue the Source_Capabilities message with the USB Suspend Supported flag cleared.

         1. I would like to ask whether reissuing the Source_Capabilities and handling USB Suspend Supported are actions performed by PDFW itself or need to be handled by the EC.

         2. Can you please introduce the entire process of USB Suspend Support behavior in PDFW code?

Best Regards

  • Hi Bruce,

    Thank you for reaching out!

The TPS65987DDK is no longer recommended for new designs.

What is your end-application? Does your design require DisplayPort?

I will check internally on the USB Suspend rules get back to you with feedback early next week.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi AE,

Sorry, Is there any update on this part?

    Best Regards

  • Hi Bruce,

Any updates on Aya's questions? We just want to make the customer aware that the TPS6598xDK family has been NRND'd and might not be the best part to use going forwards.

If using a reference design, please follow the guidance of the reference design regarding PD controller selection.

Actions need to be handled by the EC, the USB-Suspend support from the PD controller is primarily just advertisement and setting of the bit within the Source PDOs.

We will store the received RDO where the bit can be checked if set on the sink side. The source USB Suspend bit can be set in the 5-V source PDO.

    Thanks and Regards,
