BQ76952: SCHEMATIC REVIEW

Part Number: BQ76952

Tool/software:

good afternoon! I was wondering if you could review my schematic and see if this setup is viable for a 7s configuration. I have yet to buy my MOSFET but the values have been decided at this point. Would you be able to review and let me know if this circuit will be able to function correctly? I just need it to do basic measurement readings and protection which is why I’ve thinned the design down. Please let me know it’s below!!

also the diodes that are on the design are not going to be used as I bought the original on the EVM.

  • Hello Miguel,

Thank you for your patience. Overall, it looks fine, however, here are some comments regarding the schematic you shared:

    • For shorting cell connections, please follow this Connecting Battery Cells FAQ.
    • BREG should be connected to VSS if not used
      • Table 16-3. Terminating Unused Pins from the datasheet is a good reference for unused pins
    • SCL/SDA will need pullups
    • MCU will need to be able to clock stretch

    Best Regards,
    Alexis

  • Great I think I am doing this correctly. What do you mean by clock stretching? I am running into an issue using the ESP32 and some code provided online where the value that is returned from reading a cell voltage is no where near the correct value. The IC and MCU are communicating but it seems like the value thats spit out is not right. For example my input is 12V and reading the stack register will show me 38V
