TPS25730: USB PD sink solution

Part Number: TPS25730
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25751

Tool/software:

Hi,
I want to implement USB PD Sink soluiton as shown below:
Can I check do you have a solution to propose for this?
Best Regards,
KPK
  • Hi KPK,

I'm assuming you mean for the PD Sink(UFP) part?

Both the TPS25730 and TPS25751 would work here.

With the TPS25730, you can set a max voltage and current that the PD controller will negotiate and accept using restive dividers on the ADCINx pins. The PD controller will negotiate and accept any contract that is equal to or less than that contract. It will accept the max that is offered by the connected USB-C PD source that the TPS25730 is configured to accept. For example, if the TPS25730 is configured for 15V/3-A max and an adapter offers up to 20-V, we will only negotiate 15-V. If the adapter offers a max of 9-V 3-A, we will negotiate and accept the 9-V contract.

If you want to exclusively support 15-V(and no lower voltages), you may need addition switched and control.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris
