BQ24610: System Power with LiPO backup battery VIN <30V VOUT 3.3V

Part Number: BQ24610

Tool/software:

Hello TI,

We are looking for a solution to power a system with a 1-cell LiPo backup battery.

  • The input voltage is automotive 24V (range: 22V - 28.5V).

  • Under normal conditions, the system should run on main power while charging the LiPo battery.

  • If the main power is lost, the backup battery should automatically switch over and supply power.

  • The required output voltage is 3.3V <1A.

  • Hello SM_ENG,

Are you looking for a standalone device or host controlled?

If you are wanting a standalone device, I think BQ24610 will work.

The required output voltage is 3.3V <1A.

We really don't have a way to regulate the system voltage to 3.3V. If you use the typical direct power path option, when adapter is present, the system voltage will be the same as the adapter, when adapter is removed system voltage will be slightly higher than battery voltage.

You could connect the system is paralle with battery, then the system voltage will always be slightly higher than battery voltage, but we really don't have a way to regulate it to 3.3V.

    Best Regards,

    Christian.

  • Hi, thanks for your quick response.

To clarify our project: we are developing a tracking device designed to monitor the location of a truck.

We need to manage power from the truck’s 24V system while ensuring a backup battery supplies our device, which includes a 3.3V powered MCU. If the truck’s 24V power is cut, our microcontroller must remain powered from battery.

  • Hello SM_ENG,

    Thank you for this information.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best Regards,

    Christian
