TPS25751: Edit patch file from application processor before flashing patch file

Hi, I have been evaluating the circuit tps25751 and have gotten it to work quite well!

But I have a conundrum: we do not know until the application processor boots what VID/PID should be in the tps25751 module, thus, I would like to see how the patch file is structured to be able to edit this right before sending the patch file to the circuits.

To the best of my understanding, it appears to be settings in the beginning of the lower region patch file followed by some kind of checksum and after that a firmware part?

Hi Andre,

Unfortunately, we do not support editing of the patch file directly, it must be fully generated by the Application Customization GUI. As you noticed, there is a checksum that would fail if the patch file is edited in any way.

But why not just re-calculate the checksum as well then? It's not a problem...

Hi Andre,

We do not share information on generating the checksum for our fw images. This would defeat the purpose of the checksum.

Currently, the only way to do this would be to generate a completely new image from scratch from the GUI setting new PID/VID, and either holding the full image or seeing if there is an obvious section that is diffed and can be replaced. Even then, we do not recommend manually editing the binary files like this.

okay.. I understand but is it as an alternative possible to update VID/PID during runtime via a register?

Hi Andre,

We currently do not support register configuration of these fields. It is only configurable through the GUI questionnaire. It is not expected or recommended to change the VID/PID after it has been set in the initial configuration.
