BQ25756: Parallel connection is allowed?

Part Number: BQ25756

Tool/software:

Dear Expert,

Parallel connection of the bq25756 DC-DC convereter input and output is allowed to increase the charge /discharge rate?

Charge or input mode: As I understood 20A is the maximum charge current limit. Can more DC-DC circuit connected to the same battery pack to increase the charge current? For example separate solar panel strings.

Discharge or output mode: Same question can more DC-DC circuit connected to the same load to increaes the discharge current? I couldn't find maxiumum current for the reverese mode, potentially the indicated hardware current limit is the limit. Please confirm.

Thank you very much.

Have a greate Day.

  • Hello Zoltan,

    Thanks for looking into this.

Parallel connection of the bq25756 DC-DC convereter input and output is allowed to increase the charge /discharge rate?

Yes, this is allowed. I recommend using the BQ25756 in parallel with the BQ25756E. The BQ25756E has a different I2C address so it will be easier to set up with a microcontroller.

Charge or input mode: As I understood 20A is the maximum charge current limit. Can more DC-DC circuit connected to the same battery pack to increase the charge current? For example separate solar panel strings.

Yes, BQ25756 connected to separate solar panels can charge the same battery.

Discharge or output mode: Same question can more DC-DC circuit connected to the same load to increaes the discharge current? I couldn't find maxiumum current for the reverese mode, potentially the indicated hardware current limit is the limit. Please confirm.

I recommend not discharging more than 20A in reverse mode.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.
