BQ40Z50-R2: Shutdown startup conditon: Vstartup

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2

Tool/software:

Hello,

I'm currently looking at the technical reference manual (page 50) for the  BQ40Z50-R2, specifically the exit from shutdown behavior, "Voltage at PACK pin > Vstartup"

I'm not seeing any reference to "Vstartup" in this reference manual outside of this section, nor am I seeing it in the datasheet for this device.

I'm going to be embarrassed if I'm missing something obvious, but I need to know the wakeup condition from shutdown for this chip to proceed with development. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you,

Mike

  • Hello Mike,

This trend has been assigned and will be answered promptly.

    Thank you,
    Alan

  • Hi Mike,

The Vstartup threshold can be found in the datasheet. Sorry for the inconvience:

    Regards,

    Anthony

  • Hello Anthony, thank you for the response.

This makes some sense to me, but I'm a bit confused because it doesn't seem to line up with the technical reference manual:

Here, shutdown voltage is a settable quantity between 1.75V and 32.767V, where the datasheet has Vshutdown as 2.2V max

    ---

My guess on what this means, is that Vshutdown is a settable quantity and corresponds to what the datasheet calls Vshutdown-? And Vshutdown+ = Vshutdown- + VHys, with VHys being a constant set at 250mV?

Is this the correct interpretation of this information?

As in - if I set Vshutdown to 6000mV, the BMS will wake up out of shutdown when VPack is 6250mV?

Thank you again for the response,

    Mike

  • Hello Mike,

The shutdown voltage referencing within the Technical reference manual is based on purply on the battery pack voltage and the voltage shutdown reference in the datasheet is solely on the IC it self.

    Thank you,
    Alan
