Hi, I tried to program bq.fs file for BQ34Z100 EVM. The programming failed in the middle.

I can't restart EVM and program SREC file with BQ studio anymore.

The LEDs for EVM on then off when power up. How can I restart EVM back to normal?

Hello Ed,

Please review the EVM for help to setup the board but make sure that you have your battery cell connected to the EVM and the connected to EV2400 to either port 2 or 3.

Yes, I connect from J7 on EVM to I2C port on EV2400. I also connect 1K resistor to simulate load. I can't not even send to address 0xAA or 0x16.

Did you provide a pwr supply on the BAT+ and BAT-, this is how the battery gauge is powered on.

Yes, I provide 4.5 Volts and set jumpers to <= 5V. As I said, I have no trouble to program it before. Thanks,

Hello Ed,

I would follow the EVM as mention before however if it doesn't connect with connecting to the EV2400 on I2C port and having a pwr supply connected than the system may be burned. There is no way to reset the system either than disconnecting the power supply and reconnecting. I would look into using another EVM.

I bought another EVM and it's ok. Also, I replace the chip BQ34Z100-G1 and it's working fine now. Do you know if there is limit on programming the data flash. I am testing with my own uC to program with BQ.FS file.

Hello Ed,

There is not any necessary limitation of programming the data flash but it should be within the battery pack specs, however what could of happen is ESD shock on your PCB. I would recommend following the proper hardware ESD on the communication line recommended within the reference design.\
