Hello TI,

I want to build my own simple 5V/2A USB-C charger from Lipo battery pack.

I want to use TPS562212 as a step-down converter. I want to solder USB-C cable with USB-C male connector directly to pcb.

So, it is needed to connect pullup resistor from VBUS 5V to CC pins, right? This will indicate for sink device maximum current capabilities, right?

Is it necessary to add some another current protection circuit?

I understand, but I am very limited with size. I wanted to add this solution to D-tap connector.

Also, can you suggest me some USB charger IC?

HI Martin,

If you are looking to use up to 5V 3A it may be best to use the TUSB320. This is a small package CC controller that can handle CC negotiations.

TUSB320HAI, TUSB320LAI, TUSB320HI, TUSB320LI, TUSB320?

Also, is it possible to set current limit to max 1.5A?

Maybe I found better IC for my application - TPS25821

The function is nearly exactly the same. The primary difference between these parts is the enable pin control.

The TPS25821 should be fine in this application, but unfortunately I am not an expert with this part.
