TPSI3050-Q1: Safety-Related Certifications

Part Number: TPSI3050-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC23C15, TPSI3050

Tool/software:

Dear TI Tech Support,

Could you please provide information if certification of the TPSI3050-Q1 product for any version of the EN IEC 62368-1 safety standard has either been previously done or is currently underway?
I am especially interested in the following:

o EN 62368-1:2014 and EN 62368-1:2014/AC:2015 (harmonized edition)
o EN IEC 62368-1:2024 + A11:2024 (newest edition)

Looking forward for your feedback.

Regards,

Tamas Both

  • Hello Tamas Both,

Since we are only a component in the system, we only certify the device at the component level, not equipment level requirements. At the component level the certification applies to the isolation capabilities. We currently have UL and IEC/VDE certifications as listed in the datasheet. In addition to this, our device is classified by TI as a Functional Safety Capable device. You can find the what the definition for this at https://www.ti.com/technologies/functional-safety.html#commitment.

  • Hello Jack Hemmersmeier,

    Thanks for the quick response.

IEC 62368-1 conformity on the component level, is stated in the datasheets of some other TI components, as for example the AMC23C15. That is exactly what I was looking for, only now in the case of the TPSI3050-Q1. For the sake of replying to you and clarifying the situation, I opened up the referenced certificate (#40040142) in the datasheet of the AMC23C15, and to my greatest surprise, I found TPSI3050 amongst the certified components for IEC 62368-1. https://www.ti.com/lit/cr/szzq123w/szzq123w.pdf page 58. With this information unveiled, our design has the green light from the safety standpoint.

For the future and for the benefit of other designers in my shoe, I'd recommend updating the datasheet of TPSI3050-Q1 to include reference to IEC 62368-1 (just like the AMC23C15 datasheet does have it).

    Regards,

    Tamas Both
