TUSB546-DCI: Can it use TUSB320 as TUSB546 & TUSB564 CC CONTROLLER?

Tool/software:

Can I use TUSB320 as a TUSB546 and TUSB564 CC controller?

If available, should FLIP of TUSB546 connect with ID pin of TUSB320?

And is there no problem with the operation even if the HPD pin of TUSB546 is not connected?

I'm not using I2C, I'm trying to set it to hardware.

The purpose of use is to enable the flip function with the CC controller, not the PD.

Hi David,

You cannot use a TUSB320 to support two USB-C ports.

Are you able to show a block diagram of you proposed design?

Looking for PD controller to check FLIP according to CC connection.
VBUS does not use the VOUT of the PD controller because it uses a separate TPS66120.

Hi David,

from my understanding you would like to create a type-c connection support DP alt mode.

In this case you will need a PD controller on both sides of the USB-C cable.

The TPS25810 is a port controller and will not support DP alt. mode. I recommend having the TPS25721 as the PD controller for the DFP and UFP ports. (https://www.ti.com/product/TPS25751)

Hi David,

The implementation will change if you are using I2C mode or GPIO mode.

I2C mode:

- flip,CTL0, and CTL1 will all be handles by I2C registers.

- HPD can either be tied to the HPD signal coming for the USB-C conn. or pulled high to keep the TUSB564 always active.

GPIO mode:

- the PD controller/ SoC will control the flip, CTL1, and CTL0 pins which will configure the mux

- HPD can either be tied to the HPD signal coming for the USB-C conn. or pulled high to keep the TUSB564 always active.

In your implementation you will need to configure the GPIO pins on the PD controller to send the control signals (flip,CTL1,CTL0) to the TUSB564 depending on CC detection, and PD negotiation.
