Tool/software:

Hi Team,

In below configuration of the schematic, the WDO should be kept LOW while WDI is LOW, correct? Is this waveform operation normally?

Could you help reviewing the schematic! thanks.

CH1: WDO, CH3:WDI

  • Hi Brian,

Yes, the waveform is correct, unfortunately the TPS3850 is not a latched output device so WDO will de-assert after trst and restart the watchdog again. We do have an app note that will turn the TPS3850 to a latched output, but it will require the TPS3850 to power down for the latch to release.

We do have a latched watchdog capable devices that will have the functionality required(WDO low and when no input on WDI), such as TPS3435 and TPS35 for timeout watchdog and TPS3436-q1 and TPS36-q1 for window watchdog.

Unfortunately we only have latched output released for the TPS3435 and TPS35 currently.

If a window watchdog is still required, it can be requested to be included in the next release cycle of the TPS36-q1 or TPS3436-q1.

Below is a table for the currently release latched devices and an app note to have a latched output for the TPS3850
