TPS62140A: About behavior during PSM operation

Part Number: TPS62140A

Tool/software:

Dear team

I have four questions about the operation of the TPS62140A's Power save mode (PSM).

Q1: Can you accurately define the load current value at which PWM switches to PSM?

Q2: The switching frequency of the output waveform during PSM operation is not constant, but seems to change depending on the load. Is this behavior correct?

Q3: Depending on the lot, some boards have an output ripple voltage of 50mVpp during PSM operation, while other boards have no ripple at all (less than 10mVpp).

What do you think is the reason for the difference between boards despite the same circuit and load?

Q4: If steady operation is PSM operation, please tell me the possible disadvantages in circuit operation.

(For example, if there is a sudden load change, the output voltage will fluctuate more than in PWM operation, etc.)

Best regards,

Tomo
