BQ76952: TIDA-010208 Based BMS design, How TIDA-010208 communicates with BQ-Studio

Hi Team,

Greetings of the day.

I'm Designing a BMS for 8s(but design should support upto 14S ) Lipo battery with charge and discharge currents 4Amps and 10 Amps respectively,I need Balance currents around 250ma and I have been developing my design based on TIDA-010208.

I'm having few doubts:

1.In TIDA-010208, Why we are not using Crystal oscillator in MCU section?

2.How TIDA-010208 communicates with BQ-Studio (I couldn't figure how,Is it using CAN or using EV2400)?

3.Can tie all unused Vcx pins directly (from Vc7 to Vc14) to Vc15 using 0 ohms, will that be fine?

Hi Karthik,

Thanks for reaching out.

The MCU internal Oscillator is used for this design. You can add a external crystal if you need
Use EV2400 and jump the I2C wire to TIDA-010208

In theTIDA-010208 schematics

why PTC_Pullup was not tied to 3v3 but given to pin p3.3?

What is the role of Q28 and how does it work?

Is Reg1 in Being used in BQ76952?

Hi Karthik,

We want to use P3.3 to enable/disable RT5 measurement.
Q28 is used to turn off discharging FETs, it will be turned on when DSG going low and you can use R135 to adjust the turn-off speed.

Pls help me in understanding this:

I understood that If there is a reverse polarity situation at Pack terminals, then the Q29 turns On.

But due the presence of R134, there will be a voltage drop across it and current see less resistance in path-1 than path-2.

How this turns off Discharge mosfets?

The current path of Q29 turn-on is:

It is used to short the discharging FETs gate-to-source capacitor via R134.
