BQ27411-G1: Spuriously entering shutdown mode: are there other reasons than by I2C command?

Dear community,

in few units from the field we identified unresponsive BQ27411-G1 chips and found the reason for that is that somehow they entered the shutdown mode. The operating mode diagram (fig2.1 / SUUAS7B) is not very clear about the conditions under which it is possible that the mode is activated.

Are there any conditions other than the software command?

And are there ways to minimize the risk by software that the shutdown mode is enabled? (like polling CONTROL_STATUS' SHUTDOWNEN bit)

Hello Ar kr,

The Figure 2-1 that you are referring to is the main diagram user use to determine setting up the parameters within there data memory to enter different states. The only other conditions other than a software command to enter shutdown mode is just "REGIN pin > VRegin min , and Vcc pin = OFF". Please refer to the technical reference manual for determining ways to enter into different states within the battery gauge.

Thank you very much for your answer. can you please explain the signal REGIN? I couldn't find that signal in the datasheet.

VCC pin = off: this condition is true when the chip is not supplied by the battery or when it is in shutdown mode. Is this true?
