First, you can send a RESET_STATUS command to see whether the fault still exists.  If the issue is related to the OFF condition, do you mean the constant-off mode - CH_ON_MASKx BIT value = 1? if so, it’s better to wait longer than 25ms to get the fault status again after reset status command is inserted.

Do you mean the ANY_SHORT_FLAG in the Status register is triggered? Could you read the status of 94h~97h to see which channel is in error? and please share the schematic to see the channel connection. Thanks!

- Is it possible to detect the fault in led OFF condition?

- I need some clarification regarding the conditions (PWM, frequency range) for detecting open and short faults in the TLC6C5712-Q1.

Hi Meenakshi,

1. Yes, it can. Please refer to the 7.3.5.5 Deactivated-Channel LED Open or Short Detection in the datasheet.

2. For the PWM requirement, you can refer to TLC6C5712-Q1 Application Reference Guide

I take 2% negative duty cycle and 98% positive duty cycle....In that scenario, I detect the short circuit but at this PWM open fault is not detecting. So, I increased the  PWM cycle appox 15% neg duty cycle and 85% positive duty cycle ..Now in this PWN I can detect the open circuit. But it's strange why we need to increased the PWM.

In open fault , ERR pin always resetting. But in Short fault condition it's ok 

- How much current will take a role to detect the open fault?

What is your PWM frequency? as you can see, to ensure the diagnostic function, it will need a min-on time of 5us and a min-off of 40us. please check it first. Thanks! 

FREQUENCY = 166.7 Hz.................when I put the 98% -dutycyle(on time) and 2% +duty cycle (). In this scenario open fault not detected
